Terms & Conditions

1. Vehicle Collection and Return

The vehicle is delivered in good condition with all necessary documentation and equipment, and any pre-existing damage is noted at checkout.

The renter must return it in the same condition, at the agreed date, time, and location. Any deviation may result in additional charges.

An inspection of the vehicle will be conducted at the time of return. If damages or missing equipment are found, ALPYRENT reserves the right to retain the security deposit and seek further compensation if necessary.

ALPYRENT reserves the right to substitute the reserved vehicle with a similar or higher category vehicle if the originally booked vehicle is unavailable, at no additional cost to the renter.

2. Renter’s Responsibility

The renter is liable for any loss, theft, or damage to the vehicle or its accessories during the rental period. This includes, but is not limited to:

The renter must ensure sufficient funds are available to cover the full deposit amount on the day of vehicle collection.

The deposit must be paid from the main driver’s debit/credit card.

If the renter is unable to provide a valid debit of credit card or does not have sufficient funds to cover the full deposit amount, the purchase of full insurance coverage (Super DCW) may be required in order to proceed with the rental. Failure to comply may result in cancellation without refund.

When paying with cash, the renter’s payment card details must still be provided and registered as a security measure in case of an accident.

Accepted payment methods include cash, debit card, and credit card.

3. Fuel Policy

The vehicle is supplied with a full tank and must be returned full. Failure to do so will result in a refueling charge of the current local fuel rate plus a €25 service fee.

6. Cancellation Policy

The renter may cancel the booking free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pick-up are subject to a fee equivalent to one day’s rental charge.
No-shows or failure to present the required documents at the time of pick-up will be treated as a late cancellation and will be subject to a fee equivalent to one day’s rental charge.

To cancel, the renter must contact ALPYRENT via email or phone. Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 5–10 business days.

7. Traffic Violations

The renter is fully responsible for traffic, parking, or toll violations. ALPYRENT will charge the renter’s card for any fines paid on their behalf, plus a €50 per incident/traffic violation administrative processing charge.

Violations will void insurance and incur full liability.

9. Breakdown and Emergency

In case of mechanical failure or accident, contact ALPYRENT immediately. Do not attempt unauthorized repairs. Continued driving with a fault may result in further liability.

10. In Case of Accident or Theft

In the event of an accident, a European Accident Statement is provided in every vehicle and must be completed on-site. The renter is required to immediately notify local authorities and inform ALPYRENT of the incident and send clear photos of the damage, as well as any relevant documents, including the completed accident report. Do not admit liability without ALPYRENT consent.

Failure to comply and notify ALPYRENT of the incident when it occurs will result in full liability for damages.

Failure to return the vehicle on the agreed time without contacting ALPYRENT will be considered theft and will be reported to the police. Additional fees will apply.

11. Personal Belongings

ALPYRENT is not responsible for loss or damage to items left in the vehicle. Personal property is at the renter’s own risk.

12. Driver Eligibility and Documentation

All drivers must be between 21 and 80 years old and have held a valid driving license for at least 3 years. Drivers under 25 are subject to a young driver surcharge.

A senior driver surcharge applies to drivers aged 75 to 80.

must be presented together with the original driving license at the time of vehicle collection.

Failure to present any of the above-mentioned documents may result in the rental being refused and will incur a fee equivalent to one day’s rental charge.

13. Cross-Border Travel

Driving outside France and Switzerland is only allowed with prior written consent. Additional documents or fees may apply. Unauthorized cross-border travel voids insurance. It is strictly prohibited to drive to countries under conflict or unrest.

The use of the rented vehicle on any ferry or water transport is permitted only with prior written authorization from the rental company.

If ferry use is authorized, the renter assumes full responsibility for the vehicle during the entire transit period.
The rental company accepts no liability for delays, loss, or damage occurring while the vehicle is in transit or located on an island or outside the mainland.

Standard insurance coverage may not apply while the vehicle is transported via ferry or located in unauthorized territories. Additional coverage may be required.

All ferry-related expenses (e.g., transport fees, port taxes, and administrative permits) are the sole responsibility of the renter.

Unauthorized ferry use constitutes a breach of contract and may result in:

– Administrative penalties

– Loss of insurance coverage

– Full liability for any resulting damages or costs

15. Winter Policy

All vehicles rented during the winter season are equipped with:

– winter tires

– snow chains (provided upon request or for specific destinations)

– ice scraper and windshield washer fluid with antifreeze

Drivers are responsible for complying with local road regulations, including mandatory use of winter tires and snow chains in certain regions and reduced speed limits and increased caution on icy roads.

Damage caused by driving in unsafe winter conditions (e.g., on snow-covered mountain roads without chains) may not be covered by insurance.

Any fines or towing costs due to non-compliance with local winter regulations are the responsibility of the renter.

ALPYRENT reserves the right to decline or postpone rentals during extreme weather conditions to ensure the safety of the renter, passengers, and the vehicle.

16. Early Return and Rental Extension

Early return of the vehicle does not entitle the renter to any refund, unless expressly agreed in writing by the rental company.

For long-term rentals (minimum 1 month), a partial credit may be considered based on the unused rental period, provided that at least 72 hours’ notice is given.

Rental extensions must be requested and approved at least 24 hours before the scheduled return time.

Failure to return the vehicle on time without prior approval may result in penalties and legal action.

17. Security Deposit Policy

A temporary charge of €500-1000 (depending on the type of insurance selected) will be made as a security deposit to cover potential damages or misuse.

The renter must ensure sufficient funds are available to cover the full deposit amount on the day of vehicle collection.

The deposit must be paid from the main driver’s debit/credit card.

If the renter is unable to provide a valid debit of credit card or does not have sufficient funds to cover the full deposit amount, the purchase of full insurance coverage (Super CDW) may be required in order to proceed with the rental. Failure to comply may result in cancellation without refund.

When paying with cash, the renter’s payment card details must still be provided and registered as a security measure in case of an accident.

Accepted payment methods include cash, debit card, and credit card.

In the case of payment with a debit or credit card, the security deposit will be refunded within 24–72 hours after the car is returned in acceptable condition.

In the case of payment in cash, the security deposit will be refunded right after the car is returned in acceptable condition.

If charges apply, the renter will be notified with a breakdown.

The actual time it takes for the funds to appear in the renter’s account depends on their bank or card provider, and may take from 14 to 30 additional working days.

18. Limitation of Liability

ALPYRENT is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses incurred by the renter (including loss of income, accommodation, or travel delays) due to vehicle breakdown, replacement delays, or unavailability. ALPYRENT’s liability is strictly limited to the amount paid for the rental, except in cases of gross negligence or where legal liability cannot be excluded.

19. Force Majeure

ALPYRENT is not liable for any failure or delay in performance of its obligations under the rental agreement due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather, war, civil unrest, strikes, government restrictions, pandemics, or unforeseen mechanical issues. In such cases, ALPYRENT will make reasonable efforts to assist the renter, but cannot guarantee vehicle availability or compensation.

20. Governing Law and Disputes

This contract is governed by French law. Disputes will be resolved in French courts. In case of dispute, the renter may seek mediation. Contact details are available on request.

This contract is provided in English. In the event of translation discrepancies, the English version shall prevail.

21. Severability

If any clause is deemed unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.
