FAQs

How does airport pickup work?

We offer a free shuttle service from Geneva Airport directly to our rental office in Ferney-Voltaire, just 10 minutes away, where your vehicle will be ready and waiting for you.

After you land, simply follow the pickup instructions in your reservation confirmation email or give us a call. Our friendly driver will meet you just outside the Geneva Airport Arrivals hall (Swiss side).

In the shuttle, you’ll find a tablet where you can easily provide your details and sign the rental agreement, letting us finish some of the paperwork on the way. To save even more time, we also recommend the option to enter your personal details in advance through your personal booking page (the link to it is in your confirmation email).

What insurance and coverage options do you offer?

Our basic rental includes Standard Third-Party Insurance (Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection) with a €3,000 excess. This means you’re financially responsible up to €3,000 for any damage or theft. For more peace of mind, you can upgrade:

  • Full Cover – Lowers your excess to €500, and adds tire/glass coverage, 24/7 roadside assistance, wrong-fuel protection, and waives the usual €50 admin fee for accident paperwork (in cases where the incident isn’t your fault).
  • Super CDW (Zero-Excess) – Eliminates your excess entirely (€0 excess), so you won’t pay for damage if you’re at fault. Plus, it includes all the perks of Full Cover (roadside assistance, glass coverage, wrong-fuel protection, no admin fee).

You can choose your coverage level during the booking or before the rental starts – at pickup or through your personal booking page (the link to it is in your confirmation email).

What is your fuel and return policy?

Fuel: Cars are delivered with a full tank. Please return it full to avoid additional charges.

Return: Return the car at the agreed time and place. Cars returned over 1 hour late may incur a full-day charge. We’ll inspect the vehicle on return to check for any damage or missing items.

How can I modify my booking?

It’s easy to make changes to your reservation. When you book with us, you’ll receive a confirmation email that includes a link to your personal booking page.

From there, you can:
Cancel the booking if needed
Update your pick-up or drop-off time
Add insurance or extras
Add your driver’s license and ID (passport or national ID card) details in advance (recommended to speed up the vehicle pickup process!)

What happens in case of damage or an accident?

If there’s an accident, please:

  • Complete the European Accident Statement provided in the car.
  • Contact ALPYRENT and local authorities immediately.
  • Take photos and send us all necessary documentation.

If you’ve purchased upgraded insurance, your financial responsibility is limited depending on the level of coverage chosen. Please avoid reckless or unauthorized driving.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes. An amount of €500 to €1000 will be temporarily charged from your credit or debit card during the rental. The amount depends on your insurance choice (€1000 for Standard Third-Party Insurance; €800 for Full Cover, €500 for Super CDW (Zero Excess)).

The deposit is released immediately after return, assuming the car is in good condition. Please keep in mind that some banks may take 1 to 4 weeks to show the refund on your account.

What are the age and driver’s license requirements?
  • You must be at least 25 years old and have held your license for at least 3 years.
  • Drivers under 25 are allowed to rent, but a young driver fee applies.
  • If your license is not in the Latin alphabet, please bring an International Driving Permit or a certified translation.
Can I drive across borders?

You can drive in France and Switzerland freely. If you plan to travel to other countries, please request written permission in advance. Extra fees or documents may apply. Unauthorized cross-border travel will void insurance coverage.

What documents do I need to bring?

Please bring the following, all in the main driver’s name:

  • A valid passport or national ID
  • A credit or debit card
  • A valid driver’s license (plus an International Driving Permit if required)
What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel for free up to 48 hours before pickup. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pickup will be charged one day’s rental. No-shows or missing documents at pickup are also charged one day.

To cancel, simply call or email us. Refunds (when applicable) are processed within 5–10 business days.

Is there a mileage limit?

At the moment, unlimited mileage is included in all our standard rental rates, so you can enjoy your trip without worrying about distance limits!

Please note that our rentals are intended strictly for personal travel. If we detect that a vehicle has been used for commercial purposes (such as delivery services or ride-sharing) or shows signs of unusually high mileage, we may apply additional fees or penalties.

If you’re unsure whether your planned use qualifies, just reach out – we’re happy to help clarify in advance.
